Modified Methuen Course of fire
On completion of each practice the number of hits & their values will be passed to the range staff on firing point.
Spotting discs will be shown for 25 seconds.

PRACTICE 1. 300 YARD HARASSING FIRE.
Distance:- 300 yards.
Position:- Prone.
No. of Shots:- 2 sighters followed by 10 to count.
Target:- Fig 11/DP2. Scoring 5 & 4 HPS=50.
Timing:- One exposure of 60 seconds.
Procedure:-
1. At 300 yards competitors under CRO’s instructions shall adopt the prone position, with rifles loaded & made ready. After the 2 sighting shots have been fired and marked back, competitors will be ordered to apply safety catches.
2. On the appearance of the targets for 60 seconds, they will fire ten rounds.
PRACTICE 2. 300 YARD SNAP
Distance:- 300 yards.
Position:- Prone.
No. of Shots:- 10.
Target:- Fig 12. Scoring 5 & 4 HPS=50
Timing:- 10 x 3 Second exposures over 5 minutes.
Procedure:-
1. At 300 yards under CRO’s instructions competitors are to be in the prone position with rifles loaded, made ready and safety catches applied.
2. Competitors will receive 10 x 3 second exposures over 5 minutes.
PRACTICE 3. RAPID
Distance:- 200 yards.
Position:- Sitting, Kneeling or Squatting.
No. of Shots:- 10.
Target:- 2 x Fig 11/DP2. Scoring 5 & 4 HPS=50.
Timing:- 40 Seconds.
Procedure:-
1. At 200 yards under CRO’s instructions Competitors are to be in the sitting, kneeling or squatting position with rifles loaded, made ready and safety catches applied.
2. On the appearance of the targets the competitors are to open fire. No more that 5 hits are to count on each target.
PRACTICE 4. 100 YARD CLOSE QUARTER SNAP
Distance:- 100 yards.
Position:- Standing.
No. of Shots:- 10.
Target:- Fig 12. Scoring 5 & 4 HPS=50.
Timing:- 5 double exposures of 3 sec up, 2 sec down and 3 sec up at irregular intervals over a period of 2 mins.
Procedure:-
1. At 100 yards under CRO’s instructions competitors are to adopt the standing alert position with rifles loaded, made ready & safety catches applied.
2. Both shots in each double exposure is to be fired from the standing position. Competitors are to apply safety and return to the standing alert position after each double exposure.
3. Only two shots may be fired at each double exposure.
